The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is Growing – We are Building New Facilities and Expanding

Our primary goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will be safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation, remand facilities, and client transport.

The operational area (VO) Tygelsjö/Ringsjön consists of the Tygelsjö prison with 137 places for men and the Ringsjön prison with 82 places for women in security class 3, led by a prison manager together with seven prison officers.

Both prisons conduct extensive VSP and investigative work, while also providing valuable employment opportunities such as a horticulture, carpentry with pallet production, mechanical workshop, assembly/packaging, kitchen and cooking, learning center, and other structured activities.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

At the prison, there is an obligation for the inmates to engage in work or education. As a production leader, you will have direct contact with the inmates in the prison's production. You are responsible for the daily operations of assembly, packaging, carpentry, outdoor environment, as well as laundry and cleaning. The work involves planning, supervising the inmates, and ensuring that our deliveries are made on time. The work also includes receiving all goods that arrive at the prison. You will also participate in the production work.

Together with the prison officer and other colleagues, you will be responsible for production planning. Daily administrative tasks are part of the job. Additionally, daily routine tasks such as searches and other security-related tasks are included. In your daily contact with the inmates, your work contributes to their learning and encourages them to reflect on their situation.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is secure, stable, and has self-awareness. You find it easy to collaborate with others and have well-founded and clear values. In stressful situations, you remain calm, stable, and controlled. You have the ability to make correct assessments and priorities. You have a good understanding of how people absorb knowledge and adapt your way of conveying messages based on the recipient's circumstances. As the Swedish Prison and Probation Service, including Ringsjön prison, undergoes changes and expansions, it is important that you are proactive, open to rapid changes, and development-oriented. You should also have a physical condition that allows you to act physically if the situation requires.

To thrive and succeed in your role, it is important that you share the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's fundamental values of a humane view of humanity, respect for the individual, and belief in human development. You are also aware of and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect yourself and others. We are looking for someone who has:

• Completed upper secondary education in the form of a diploma or upper secondary degree
• Ability to express yourself well in spoken and written Swedish
• B driver's license

It is meritorious to have:

• Experience in corrections
• Work experience in a supervisory role
• Experience in educational work
• Work experience in corrections, security work, social care, psychiatry, or healthcare and social services
• Relevant language skills
• Forklift license
